Kiwi

2023.

Developed with The Pelvic People (formerly Ohnut), Kiwi is a tool aiming to relieve people from entry pain.

75% of women will have painful sex during their lifetime, a challenge often ignored and with limited, antiquated at-home treatment options. Pain during penetrative sex, also known as entry pain, is described as pain or discomfort at the entrance of the vagina during, or after penetration. A tight (or hypertonic) pelvic floor is one of the most common causes of entry pain. 1 in 3 people with vaginas and 1 in 6 people with penises will experience pelvic floor muscle dysfunction in their lifetime. Painful sex is often normalized (“the first time always hurts!”) and stigmatized (“My doctor just told me to have a glass of wine.”). Women often don’t speak up because they normalize or dismiss their pain, or are prioritizing their partner’s experience. Over time, pain during sex can lead to feeling anxious about penetration, fearing sex, and avoiding intimacy altogether. Many women seeking medical care for sexual pain report believing that their concerns are invalidated and dismissed. Entry pain is complicated - that’s why Kiwi is simple.

Kiwi bridges the gap between medical devices and toys with its non-phallic design. Patient-founded and developed with over 90 clinicians, Kiwi combines complex pelvic health insights into an elegant shape. The subtly waved surface accommodates anatomical variety, whilst the harmony of form and function facilitates evidence-based massage methods, and has two vibration motors for both myofascial release and stimulation of the clitoris. Kiwi is the worlds first massager that invites shallow penetration, making it a non-threatening step toward insertion, while creating positive associations with touch. Used in the comfort of your home, Kiwi breaks the fear induced pain cycle — bringing control and joy into the healing process. It is the missing piece in a clinical toolkit that can often feel like punishment. Kiwi makes progress feel good.
